Secret Benefit of Exercise

There is plenty of information about daily exercise and its health benefits, one thing exercise does for me is allow me to figure out problems without distractions.

Getting into a steady rhythm while running, cycling, or other aerobic activity helps clear thoughts. Use this time to think about upcoming events, problems not solved during the day, what to say at that next meeting etc…   You can work through a great deal of problems without distractions opposed to an office setting with all its interruptions.

As an added benefit, you keep your mind off of the activity you are doing.  I know that I can run longer and at a more consistent pace by keeping my mind off the physical activity itself.  I feel better about exercising and actually exercise more often when I use the time to think about work.

Next time you exercise have some items to mull over. Think of this as good time management and that you are multitasking.  You will find the time fly by during your workout and have a clearer understanding of items that may be plaguing you at the same time.
