I am a self employed consultant focusing on internet marketing, business development coupled with strategic business analysis.   There are a variety of options available to small and medium business (SMB) owners today in this area but many larger firms lack understanding of the particular needs of the small and medium business owners. I have a unique in-sight into this area since I am a third generation SMB owner, now turned independent.

One specific area of focus for me is with Google AdWords and Analytics becoming an AdWords expert myself.  This is a powerful and often misused marketing tool.  The potential for AdWords to increase revenue is only matched by its potential to drain financial resources if not used properly.  I have witnessed both success and failure of AdWords campaigns with figures ranging from generating $9000 in sales revenue in 1 week to having a recurring cost of  $9000 a month with about a .05% conversion rate. The potential for AdWords assisting small business owners should not be overlooked.  It is a very good start in generating revenue – although it is just a start.

Another area of focus is with Social Media.  With the popularity of Twitter and Facebook, and recently Google has released there own social media platform; Google Buzz;  social media is a powerful marketing platform that can not only supplement paid advertising but can also surpass the more traditional paid advertising platform.
